Messaging & drafts

Encrypted drafts, approve-and-send, attachments, delivery ticks, edits, and reactions.

Drafts

  • One per conversation: Auto-saving, debounced, and encrypted at rest — decrypted only for the composer.
  • Three kinds: Reply, follow-up, and first-touch (a cold open to a connection with no thread yet).
  • Reopening a conversation restores your last draft.
  • Composer modes: Switch between a reply and an internal note.

Sending

  • Approve-and-send: Draft → approve → send, so nothing goes out by accident.
  • Cold open: Send to a 1st-degree connection even with no existing thread — the thread is created on send.
  • Daily cap display: The composer shows your remaining / total sends for today.
  • Attachment tray: Stage images, files, video, and voice; each is validated (allowed MIME types, 4 MB cap) client- and server-side, and voice is auto-transcoded.
  • Just-sent images preview optimistically.

Delivery status

Every outbound message shows where it is:

  • Unsent: A clock icon while it’s in flight.
  • Sent: A single tick once LinkedIn accepts it.
  • Delivered: A double tick once it reaches the recipient.

Message actions

  • Edit: Edit your own sent message (LinkedIn Classic, within 60 minutes; shows an “(edited)” label).
  • Unsend: Delete your own sent message within 60 minutes; it renders a soft “message deleted” tombstone.

Reactions

One emoji reaction per message, add-only and provider-agnostic. Reaction pills group by emoji with a count and a “mine” flag.
